Due to the increasing number of visa applications to visit Spain from Russian citizens, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Spain ordered to expand the staff of Spanish consulate in Moscow.

Tourism Department of the Embassy of Spain in the Russian Federation reported an increase in staff by 16 people for summer 2011.

In 2010, 605,000 Russian tourists visited Spain, but this year it is expected that this number will be close to one million.

Spain is very interested in the tourist market of Russia, which has recently developed Spanish course.

From January to April 2011, the number of tourist visas to Spain, issued by the consulate of Spain, had been increased by 53% compared with the previous year.
